The Scorpion runner.
Some of You might think that I have ruined a nice Scorpion-body, and I am sorry for this. But fact is, that this body
was already ruined. It was painted from the outside with a kind of paint that I simply could not remove and it looked
terrible. I didn´t want to throw it away, so what to do?

I´ve always wanted a Scorpion, not only shelfqueens, but also a car to run. And since this body was a wreck
I thought maybe I can use it for a runner. Until now I ´ve never seen a military Scorpion before. Tamiya has one
that I find cool, so I decided to make my own contribution to the military with an old Kyosho Scorpion. This car is made for running, and
not standing on a shelf.

I have big plans for this one, some might work, some not. It will be a slightly freaky kind of car, so stay tuned for more pictures!

I painted the radiotub in a colour that would "disappear" in the dunes of Hamburg-beach: Terracotta yellow.
The first "military-details" attached: Handles on the sides...wow, how military;-)

The rims are from PRAFA, an old, no longer existing Swiss brand. I think they co-operated with KYOSHO
in the late 80´s and early 90´s. I painted them in the same colour as the radiotub, and the spokes are chrome.
I also mounted another shocktower, and I didn´t want to use an original bumper on this runner, so I decided to make a simple one myself.

I am trying to fix the frontrims, and since I want to run this car so bad I mounted these chromerims from ARP until I am done with the other ones.
They look pretty nice too, although they have a little too much of the "slaughter-look" to me, but I can live with that for a while.
I also made a, what shall I call it...a "prototype-fender". The fender is mounted on two places for stability, and it follows the steering. A pretty unnecessary
thing, but it looks cool and it gives the car a nice touch :-)

Although the "military-body" is still there, I painted another one. I mean, maybe I want to drive as a civilian too! When I am on duty, I´ll put the camo-body on again ;-)

This roof I took from an old 1:8 scale car from Multiplex. It fits perfect (all I have to do was to bend it so that it follows the shape of
the rollcage). I find the little rear-wing pretty cool!

...and the military-version

The first fendermount that I made wasn´t that good, so I am trying to build another, better one. I have a picture in my head how the car looks with
those fenders, and I definately want to try to build a nice pair of them. I am still trying different ways and this is the latest one.
It´s quite solid and the idea is to mount the fender as close to the wheel as possible, something like the new Plymouth Prowler.
Well, I´ll just have to keep on trying and hope it will be like the picture in my head!
The right picture shows the protectionplate that I made for the motor.
